The owners bought Valtair in late 2002, and was extensively refitted and refurbished from the bare hull to new riggings and sails. It took nearly two years in Brisbane to re-commission Valtair. As much as further tons were added from her minimum weight ratio for pure racing to suit the present cruising needs of modern comfort such as generator, air conditioning system, watermaker, additional fuel and water tank, furling boom, music and video entertainment centre and a host of other creative comfort furniture and easy navigational equipment.
